Palms Skyward DrillA common problem with starting the club back properly is the arms tend to swing back quicker than the body. When the arms take over, the swing becomes out of 'sync' and it is diffcult to recover on the downswing. There needs to be a sense of connection with the body and arms to develop a sound swing motion. This blending of both the arms and body encourages consistent shots.
Here is a great drill to promote linkage in your swing.
Place the inside of your forearms together with your palms facing skyward. Keep your forearms touching all the way and begin to make mini-swinging motions both back and through. Feel how much your body rotates. There is practically no way for your arms to out race your torso in this drill. This is one of the best drills for syncing up all the parts in your swing.
